India’s textile industry is set to experience substantial growth, with projections indicating it will reach $350 billion by 2030 and generate 35 million new jobs. Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, presented this announcement at the curtain-raiser event for ‘Bharat Tex 2025’ in New Delhi. Shri Singh expressed optimism that India would achieve global recognition for its ‘Bharat’ brand and dedication to eco-friendly textile products. The event was also graced by the presence of Union Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, Shri Pabitra Margherita, Textiles Secretary Ms. Rachna Shah, along with other senior officials from the Ministry.
Impact of Production-Linked Incentive Scheme
Shri Singh highlighted the Union Government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles, which aims to boost production and enhance branding within the apparel industry. He noted that the PLI scheme would help integrate the textile value chain and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into the sector.
India Demographic Dividend and the 5F Vision:
Emphasizing India’s demographic advantage, Shri Singh noted that this could propel the country’s growth beyond that of China. He called on state governments to actively participate in the initiative, stating that the event embodies the Prime Minister’s 5F vision—Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.
