The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a subsidy scheme to provide affordable agricultural equipment to farmers. Under this Agricultural Machinery Subsidy Scheme, farmers can receive financial support for purchasing various agricultural tools, including cultivators, rotavators, threshers, multi-crop threshers, and reapers.
Subsidy Up to ₹12 Lakh:
As part of this initiative, the state government has announced a subsidy of up to ₹12 lakh on crop drying machines. The average cost of a single dryer machine is around ₹15 lakh, meaning farmers in Uttar Pradesh could potentially acquire the machine for as little as ₹3 lakh.
During the harvesting process, crops can contain moisture levels ranging from 17% to 40%. High moisture content in crops increases the risk of fungal growth. Typically, crops should have a moisture level of 13% to 14% for optimal sale conditions.
Dryer Machines Reduce Moisture:
Dryer machines effectively reduce the moisture content in crops, helping maintain the required moisture levels in the produce. The Uttar Pradesh government is actively encouraging maize cultivation among farmers, and to ensure safe moisture retention in maize, subsidies on dryer machines are being provided.
Subsidy on Popcorn Machines:
Addition to dryer machines, the state government is also offering subsidies on popcorn machines to help increase farmers’ incomes. Farmers can avail a subsidy of ₹10,000 on popcorn machines.
