The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for regions of Madhya Pradesh. Continuous rainfall in the country’s leading wheat-producing states over the past week has become a significant concern for farmers somewhere or the other. Due to the western disturbance, the rain is damaging wheat crops in fields, causing losses to many farmers in Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh Government’s Major Announcement:
Amidst this, the Madhya Pradesh government has issued a directive for farmers. Those farmers whose wheat crops have been damaged due to untimely rain will be purchased at the same rate, but a discount of up to 30% will be applied to the affected wheat. In such a situation, farmers whose crops have been slightly damaged can now take their wheat to purchase centres. Wheat affected by the discount of up to 30% will be purchased without any price reduction across the entire state of Madhya Pradesh. The state government will be fully responsible for any decrease in the quality of the wheat stock purchased during storage. The purchased stock will be depleted based on priority.
According to farmers, this year, the stock of wheat per acre is 5 to 6 quintals less compared to last year. This year, the stock of wheat per acre is only up to 10 to 12 quintals, due to which wheat grains are thin along with the presence of waste and soil in the crop. Most of the farmers’ crops in Madhya Pradesh have been harvested, and among those, some farmers are experiencing happiness and waste in their crops. Thus, it can be said that the weather is constantly changing, which is increasing the worries of the farmers. Now, to minimize the loss, those farmers whose crops are still standing in the fields have started harvesting the damp crop. On the other hand, those whose crops have been harvested are also quite worried. Therefore, as soon as possible, they are trying to sell their wheat.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that instructions have been issued by the administration regarding rainfall and showers. If there is any kind of damage in any district, the government will compensate the farmers for it. The Chief Minister said that we will not let any kind of trouble come to the farmers. 80% of the wheat is covered in the existing covered area. Along with this, orders have been issued to keep the wheat in the open also safe in the covered area. He said that the wheat crop that was coming was slightly weak, so it was difficult to buy it, but now farmers can easily sell it.
